ELECTRIC STEERING

Electric steering offers outboard engine users a system with lightweight responsive control, clean installation, and reduced maintenance requirements, when compared to traditional hydraulic systems.

HOW IT WORKS

Turn the wheel. The boat follows.

Hydraulic steering works through pressure fluid, lines, and a cylinder at the end. It works, but the chain is long. Electric steering shortens it. Your input reaches the actuator directly.

01

You turn the wheel

The wheel hub sensor reads your input. Continuously. Without mechanical resistance.

02

The signal reaches the actuator

The microcontroller in the actuator interprets your steering and sends a precise movement command. Instantly.

03

The outboard responds

The actuator acts. No fluid delay. No pressure build-up. Direct, mechanical movement in 0.2 seconds.

Autopilot Compatible

Built for autopilots.

SAFETY

Steer with confidence

A steering system designed for the conditions it operates in.

01

Emergency Steering

An included mechanical steering kit mounts to the actuator, allowing manual control of the outboard in the event of a system failure.

02

No Fluid Risk

No hydraulic lines to burst, no fluid to lose. Electric means fewer mechanical failure points.

03

Made for Life at Sea

Designed for a marine environment. Operates from -25°C to +70°C. Salt, spray and vibrations accounted for.

FAQ

Common questions

Switching from hydraulic is a serious decision. Here are the answers most boat owners ask before upgrading.

In case of system failure, the steering will maintain its last position. An emergency steering kit is included, which can be mounted to the actuator to allow manual control. A 6mm hex key is required for installation — keep both stored in an accessible location on board.

Whilst the system is designed for easy installation with basic mechanical skills we do recommend professional installation. A detailed owner’s manual is included with every purchase.

Minimal. We recommend a visual inspection every 100 hours of operation and an annual check of electrical connections. There are no fluids to change or hydraulic lines to bleed.

The system works with most standard outboard steering setups. Check our compatibility guide or contact us with your boat and engine details for confirmation.

Full 2-year warranty covering all components against manufacturing defects.

Electric steering offers faster response—under 0.2 seconds versus 0.5-1 second for typical hydraulic systems. The difference is immediately noticeable, especially at high speeds.
