Inspection & Maintenance
Maintenance schedule and inspection requirements for the Jefa Steering ES150 electric outboard steering system.
Continuous failure to follow the inspection and maintenance requirements may result in degradation of system performance and potential system failure.
Regular Inspection
All components should be regularly inspected, approximately every 100 hours of use, for rust or non-superficial damage. The following areas should be checked:
- Seals on actuator shaft
- All exposed rubber grommets and O-rings
- Cable connection to actuator housing
- Cable connections on EMC-box
- Cable connection to steering wheel hub (if exposed)
- Surface of actuator shaft
Any significant rusting, degradation or non-superficial damage could impact the system's ability to keep out water and potentially result in system failure.
Maintenance Schedule
Regular
Clean the actuator axle regularly. Minimising dirt and salt accumulation on the axle will maintain the integrity of the seals, ensure smooth operation and extend service life.
Replace any component with significant rusting, degradation or non-superficial damage.
Annual
Apply a light oil to the actuator shaft once per year.
Important: Do not use grease on the actuator shaft. Grease can gather within the shaft seals, compromising waterproofing. Use light oil only.
